Position: Team Leader | Machined Components (Turning)

Hours: 40 per week

Salary: £Competitive

The Role

Supporting the Production Manager to effectively manage the machine shop in order to fulfill customer requirements and company objectives.

This leadership role is critical with developing our organisational culture focused on continuous improvement.

Positively influence business performance in Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.

Key Responsibilities

  • To manage department workload  allocating necessary resource to achieve the plan
  • To be collaborative within the organisation building positive relationships across departments
  • To implement and maintain high level of workplace standards
  • To identify and resolve inefficient work practices utilising a team problem solving approach
  • To encourage personal development of self and others creating a fully flexible work force
  • To support, drive and at times champion improvement initiatives focussed on SQDC performance
  • Must be innovative with their ideas and be able to challenge the status quo
  • Must be proactive in seeking out potential problems and necessary solutions within the plant
  • Maintain Safety, Quality and Environmental standards and own corrective action where required

Required Capabilities

  • Solid industry experience within the field of CNC machining
  • Recognised Industry qualification (BTEC, CITY&GUILDS etc)
  • Good understanding of machinery automation and ability to interpret drawings and schematics
  • Good Communication Skills
  • Experience of working within a Continuous Improvement culture
  • Must be flexible and able to work to tight deadlines
  • Personable, confident, able to work alone and also alongside colleagues of all disciplines

Objectives

  • To improve workflow through the department by eliminating unnecessary downtime
  • To monitor and improve delivery performance achieving >90% OTD
  • Utilising problem solving skills drive towards ZERO defects achieving <5% Cost of Non-conformance
